Bertolinni House
Bento Gonçalves, RS, Brazil
2008

The house is located in the city of Bento Gonçalves originally part of a rural site. The spatial organization of the program over the elevated floor, enables new views over the landscape whilst respecting its scale and with minimal interference to the city.

The house is located in the city of Bento Gonçalves, on the mountain region of Rio Grande do Sul (Brasil), originally part of a rural site. The proposal was thought for a couple that would eventually welcome their three children.

The plot is almost a square of 32x30m of reinforces concrete and separated from the ground floor with a gentle slope of 0.90m.The program is organized in two floors. On the upper floor, the banister in L shape are the access areas and connects with the backyard. Internally, the main circulation goes from the access area to the main suite, walking past the service and social area at the start to the private ones at the back. On another level, semi buried, is the garage and the cellar. Completing the program, separated from the main volume, is a shelter for the wood-fired oven, sanitary and water tank.

The south façade, facing the street, indicates the degree of privacy through its openings: being totally permeable on access areas, controlled on the social and hermetic on the intimate parts. On the north façade, taking advantage of the views, glazed windows establish a connection with the interior garden. The materials used were reinforced concrete, revoked masonty and aluminum carpentry with thermo-acoustic glass.

The spatial organization of the program over the elevated floor, enables new views over the landscape whilst respecting its scale and with minimal interference to the city.
